Zenith Aircraft Annual Open Hangar Days & Fly-In to Celebrate Company's 25th Anniversary

Celebrating the kit manufacturer's 25th anniversary is the highlight of this year's Zenith Aircraft Open Hangar Days & Fly-In at the factory in Mexico, Missouri this fall. This year's annual fly-in promises to be the biggest yet, with educational seminars, fun contests, and social activities, including a banquet dinner and a BBQ dinner at the kit aircraft factory located in central Missouri.

Zenith 25th anniversary

On the first day (Friday, September 22) educational seminars will begin in the morning and take place throughout the day featuring various airframe, engine, avionics options with Dynon, Garmin, Continental, Rotax, UL Power and more participating. The knowledge gained from these educational seminars give builders and potential builders an opportunity to learn more about the choices they have when building and finishing their own aircraft. Friday night's Zenith banquet dinner will celebrate Zenith 25th anniversary.

Saturday's schedule is packed full of activities including:

  • Zenith aircraft show, judged by the public with many categories and prizes,
  • Cleco & riveting contest,
  • STOL and other precision flying competitions (sponsored in part by Kitplanes magazine)

There will also be hands-on building projects in the factory, Zenith Aircraft presentations, and guided factory tours, as well as representation from more than a dozen vendors (avionics, engines, insurance, etc.). There are two full days of activities planned, including a fun BBQ dinner and awards ceremony starting at 5:00 pm at the Zenith factory on Saturday, September 23.

EAA head Jack Pelton and EAA Director of Chapters, Communities & Homebuilts Charlie Becker will be featured guests at this year's event.

The annual Open Hangar Days have become a popular event for builders and enthusiasts to fly-in and visit the factory. Prior to the event Zenith Aircraft is hosting a monthly factory rudder workshop on Wednesday, September 20 & Thursday, September 21, giving potential builders the opportunity to learn all about building their own kit aircraft.

For a quarter century Zenith Aircraft Company has been manufacturing easy to build and fun to fly aircraft kits designed by aeronautical engineer Chris Heintz. Zenith Aircraft produces kit aircraft with superb short take-off and landing capabilities demonstrated by the STOL CH 701 and STOL CH 750 models, as well as economical two-seat cross-country cruisers: The high-wing Zenith CH 750 Cruzer and the sleek low-wing Zenith CH 650. With builder choices in mind, all Zenith aircraft kits are designed to offer builders a wide variety of suitable engines, avionics, and custom kit options. Zenith Aircraft builders typically build their own airplanes in 400-500 hours from a complete kit, or can choose to build from component kits, quick build kits, or scratch-build from plans (blueprints) only.

For 25 years the Zenith Open Hangar Days have proven to be a great way for Zenith builders, flyers and enthusiasts to meet with each other to share their love of building and flying, and to get to know the factory staff, while also learning about building, maintaining and flying their own airplane.  All Zenith aircraft pilots, builders and owners are encouraged to fly in or drive in, and all aviation enthusiasts are welcome to attend.
