I flew in to Wittman Field on Thursday afternoon, talked to the tower, got a clearance to land... it was just a normal day at a controlled field. Today, its all different - today, it is Airventure! The NOTAM is in effect, the volunteers are ready, and the field is in good condition--waiting for the ten thousand airplanes and hundreds of thousands of people that will descend in the next few days. Homebuilt camping (shown here) will change dramatically in the next 24 hours, with airplanes and tents populating the grassy field in all directions.
Everyone's waiting for you - are you on the way?
