Grand Opening of the New Homebuilt Pavilion

EAA president and CEO Jack Pelton cut the ribbon for the opening of the new Homebuilt Camping Pavilion at AirVenture Sunday morning. This is the first of a series of improvements slated for the Homebuilt area on the AirVenture grounds. Coming soon will be other projects including another pavilion at the Aces Cafe, which will be renamed the Tailwind Cafe, and other improvements.

The EAA Homebuilt Aircraft Council is excited to see this important first step in their three year plan to turn the Homebuilt area into a recognizable and better functioning space in the vein of what has been done in the Vintage and Warbirds areas.

Born into a family of builders, it was only natural that he would make his living as a contractor and spend his leisure time building airplanes. He has so far completed three—a GlaStar, a Glasair Sportsman, and a Texas Sport Cub—and is helping a friend build an RV-8. When he isn’t building something, he shares his love of aviation with others by flying Young Eagles or volunteering as an EAA Technical Counselor.
