Garmin announces new 2018 classroom pilot training classes

Garmin announced expanded pilot training opportunities for 2018 to include additional classes throughout the United States. Instructor-led training classes are available for the GTN 650/750 touchscreen navigator series, the G500/G600 glass flight display systems, and all Garmin Integrated Flight Decks. Supplemental eLearning opportunities are also available, and additional training for the G500 TXi/G600 TXi and G3X Touch series will be added later in the year. These new training opportunities and locations provide pilots with varying levels of experience a hands-on approach to learning Garmin avionics in a classroom environment taught by experienced certified flight instructors. The GDL 52 is the first portable receiver capable of receiving Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) weather and dual-link, as well as SiriusXM Aviation weather1 and audio for display and control on select portables and mobile devices. It includes a built-in battery and provides GPS position data as well as back-up attitude information2 to compatible portable devices. Garmin announced the addition of new features for the Garmin Pilot application for Android and iOS mobile devices. Garmin Pilot 6.2 for Android incorporates approach chart overlays on the moving map, enhancements to stadium TFR's, glide range ring, logbook tracks and more, while the 9.1 version of Garmin Pilot for iOS adds a new high resolution basemap, worldwide gridded winds and a streamlined Connext devices page. Within the iOS version, pilots can also access aircraft performance profiles, checklists and weight and balance data for additional aircraft types. Garmin Pilot adds new features to iOS and Android mobile devices

Garmin announced several new enhancements and an expanded feature set for the Garmin Pilot application on Apple and Android mobile devices. New for Android, Garmin Pilot customers can now access synthetic vision (SVX), as well as pilot-configurable checklists within the app. Customers using Garmin Pilot on an Apple mobile device can take advantage of weight and balance calculations tailored to helicopter operators, Search and Rescue (SAR) options and more. With the latest upgrade, both platforms also offer connectivity with the GDL 52/GDL 51 portable receivers, the D2 Charlie aviator watch and the VIRB 360 camera.
